We chose the Laugavegur trek for its reputed scenery
We were not prepared for the awe-inspiring variety and drama that awaited us the next 5 days
We timed our walk just right, to see enough snow on the ground for contrast, but not enough to cover all the trails
We were blessed with magnificent weather
There were several snow crossings, but the snow was well packed and not too deep
We were often reminded of Iceland's volcanic nature, seeing signs of fire and ice
H2O in its 3 phases: ice, water, steam
